The Compliance Committee established in terms of section 16 of the Act, is mandated with the responsibility to provide the Board with the assurance that the regulatory structures are maintained in compliance with the applicable legislative frameworks. The Compliance Committee ensures that proper investigative processes are followed and monitors the integrity of gambling operations within Mpumalanga.
The functions of the Compliance Committee include:

Rendering advice to the MGB Management Committee in respect of the processes followed, the focus and criteria used and the format on which recommendations are based.

Consider and make recommendations in respect of the priorities relating to the licensing process, disciplinary competencies, revision and enforcement of official findings, cheating activities.

Review and assess the effectiveness and adequacy of the performance
of the Gambling Control and Gambling Audit & Systems Departments and
to consider and advise on investigation methods/technology that could
improve the efficiency of the Investigations and Licensing Department.

Review the Internal Control Procedures of all licensees.

Ensure adherence by the licensees with their Compliance Plans and
recommend any corrective steps necessary.

Investigate and/or consider any matter referred to it by the Board
relevant to Investigations and Licensing, Gambling Control and Gambling
Audit and Systems Departments and recommend special investigations.

Eliminate illegal gambling within the Province.

Evaluate procedures for determining the payment of levies to the
Board and to recommend corrective steps.

Render advice in respect of underlying policies and principles relevant
to the application process.

Exercise the powers and perform functions of the Board provided
for in Chapter III of the Mpumalanga Gambling Regulations in respect
of patron
disputes.

Make recommendations to the Board in respect of the Board’s
functions referred to in sections 23,28, 33A, 33B, 36 and 47 of the
Mpumalanga Gambling Act, 1995 (No. 5 of 1995), as amended, on matters
presented before it.

Establish and maintain a list of excluded persons in terms of the
provisions of section 39(2) of the Mpumalanga Gambling Act 1995 (Act No
5 of 1995), as amended, read with Chapter IV of the Mpumalanga Gambling
Regulations

Conduct hearings, enquiries and investigations.

Impose fines and issue warnings to licensees on matters presented
before it.

Perform the functions referred to in section 36A, 55 and 58 of the
Mpumalanga Gambling Act, 1995 (No. 5 of 1995) as amended, on matters
presented
before it.

Perform such other functions delegated to it by the Board from time
to time.
