About Mpumalanga Gambling Board

The institution has been charged with the responsibility to perform all functions assigned to it in terms of the Mpumalanga Gambling Act or any other legislation by advising, reporting or making recommendations to the Responsible Member on any matter relating to the control of gambling in the Mpumalanga Province.

The Mpumalanga Gambling Board (MGB) was established in December 1995, and is a statutory body reporting to the Provincial Department of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism. Section 4 of the Act provides for the appointment of no more than ten (10) Board Members, drawn from different backgrounds and the Chief Executive Officer is appointed as an ex-officio Member of the Board.

The Board displays a high standard of professionalism, operates in clear recognition of fairness and honesty by subscribing to principles (socio-economic and legal) that protect the public against any illegal, unfair or unscrupulous practices in the gambling industry. The MGB's operational strategy is committed to being a global player in the ever-changing Gambling regulatory environment.
